| I think you invite your family and good friends, and any children of your good friends and family. These parties never seem to be about children. |

| Trust me, I learned this the hard way...make it family and close friends...I had an extravagana with over 50 of our "nearest and dearest" adults and kids, complete with a space walk, pony, clowns...my daughter was really out of sorts and didn't handle it well at all. Save it for when they are old enough to really enjoy the party! |

I say invite everyone! A child's first birthday is the first major birthday in the person's life. They probably will not understand it but because it is such a big deal in our world... that child will ask... so what did you do for my first birthday?.. who was there?
I say make it big and memorable for all that attend. Celebrate! |

| I would invite just small kids and parents of very close friends and family members. |

| I think it is a personal choice. We have large imediate families so we keep it with just that. About 30 people. A small group lets you go all out a little more and pay attention to the special touch for the Birthday Kid and your guest. Try planning ahead so the day is not so stressful. |

It is a bad idea to share birthday parties? I have a daughter who will be 4 and one celebrating her first birthday. Birthdays are 5 weeks apart.
Thanks |

|
|
The first birthday is one of the most important, I think, even though the child won't remember it. The photos will mean something.
For our son's first, we did a baseball theme. Guests signed baseballs, our cake was shaped like a baseball hat (dome part of the cake cooked in a glass bowl). Menu: peanuts and cracker jacks, hot dogs, nachos in those plastic trays (Sam's Club) with cheese sauce. Pizza and pretzels. We had a baseball shaped pinata for all the kids. It was so awesome!!! |
