|
|
Since my bridesmaids and maid of honor all have great fashion taste I am letting them pick one dress that they will all wear. I gave them some pointers (not white or black) and of course will approve the dress. This way they aren't mad at me for picking a dress that they do not like since they are paying for it. One less thing that I have to think about ...

this can be a great idea, and works even better for girls far apart geographically...too many body types out there these days, so I think that's a nice way to please everyone

I also let my bridesmaids choose their outfits. I saw a picture in one of the bridal magazines that had the bridal party in the same color scheme, but all had unique outfits. I thought the photographs looked wonderful and you could see a bit of everyone's own style in their dress. My bridesmaids are all so very different, all very stylish, but different taste. I gave them two colors to work with and they can do it up however they want. The wedding is in 5 weeks.

It is very popular these days and many places are accomodating dresses in the same color with different styles. My bridesmaid picked out different tops and bottom to suit their body types and they are happy with it. I'm happy because they were all coordinated with the same color scheme.

I let my small party (matron of honour, bridesmaid) pick their own dresses, but if you do have any requirements make sure you're clear. Since my gown is strapless all I had asked was their dresses be a shade of purple or yellow and that it not be strapless. Unfortunately the last part was understood and my bridesmaid ended up with a strapless dress. It was an easy fix, I asked her to wear a sheer shawl. I recommend the communique is fully understood before you send them loose. It was important to me they have a dress they liked and could potentially wear again (I have a hideous bridesmaid dress in my closet), I think my requests were minimal.

Great idea! I am definitely thinking about this same idea for my wedding! I think it gives girls the opportunity to find a dress for their body and their style! I think I will stick with the same color shade for my girls!

I'm so glad I decided to let my girls pick out their own dresses. The only thing I told them was the color...and the general style. Then they both showed me the one they picked out, they tried their's on when I had my dress on, and they looked SO good together, there was no denying that it was meant to be.

I just specified the color of the dress - and went with the girls to pick the dresses. I pointed out a few that I liked, which they tried on - and sort of let the 3 BMs figure out together a style they liked/looked good on them and that they could agree on.

I have a very large bridal party. There are 11 bridesmaids and a flower girl. I realize that the procession is going to take a long time, but I let my girls choose their dresses so that the guests have something to look at. Hopefully this will make it a little interesting for the guests.

I let my sister, the maid of honor choose her own dress. She had to pay for it, she has to wear it. As long as the color fell in line with the rest of my theme...it was great.
