I have heard that the whole trick to using sparklers and having great pictures is to have everyone line up and then give them the sparklers. Then, using the "match gun" lighter things rather than matches, several folks should light everyone's at the as close to the same time as possible. The bride and groom should be ready for the dash, as should the photographer because they don't last very long. Then use pails with sand for everyone to put their burnt out, but still warm, sparklers in. Its kind of a hassle but I've seen it well executed at two different weddings and the result was fantastic!

A friend of mine went to a beautiful wedding a few months ago. She told me that as the Bride and Groom were coming out of the Church (after pictures) all the guests were given the signal to light their sparklers. There was so much smoke the guests could not even see the Bride and Groom - it was evidently a cute idea - but too many sparklers made way too much smoke!

The word Sparklers brings back bad memories for me. As a child we were celebrating the 4th of July out on some undeveloped property by a lake. I started a grass fire! It burned quite a bit of acreage. I would highly recommend you find another means to send off the happy couple.

I am getting married on the 4th of July, so my favors are going to be 5 sparklers tied with red ribbon and a matchbox with firework graphic printed on it. The reception hall informed us that we could not light them inside, but we are allowed to go up to the rooftop terrace. I plan on putting buckets of sand outside to put them out in when we are done. I hope it works out and we don't have any problems. Does anyone know where I could get cheap sparklers? I need about 1000.
