Well, it depends. Are you the mom to be? Or you're just a close friend or relative. Normally, the person/persons throwing the shower are the ones that foot the bill. A host of family and friends can also be the contributors. But the mother to be should never have any monetary involvement. If you're feeling overwhelmed just post some more questions and I'll assist in any way I can.

Usually the one's throwing the baby shower pay for everything. Since you have alot of friends you can ask them to each bring something such as a dish of food. This will cut down on the cost. I hosted a baby shower for my sister and we to had a ton of family and friends. I didn't want to have to choose who was invited and who wasn't. So instead, what I did was to have the baby shower as a backyard bar-b-que. We set up tables and canopies, decorated everything and had a really nice baby shower. My sister loved it. She was really glad that we didn't leave anyone off the guest list. The baby shower was so much fun with so many people that if I had to do it again, I would do it the same way. We had lots of games and we even had a raffle: for every pack of diapers that was brought, a ticket was given. To say the least, my sister ended up with enough diapers to last her for months. Good luck and have fun putting it all together.

You usually only get a baby shower for the first child because they figure you have stuff to reuse for the second or third child.

If you're the mom-to-be, talk with your closest friend(s) or relative(s) and have them "host" for you. You can still be involved, but let them do the work. In our family, usually, the best friend, sister or a close relative throws the shower. We invite everyone, because someone will feel left out if we dont.

Microwave different types of candy bars in disposable diapers (one candy bar in each diaper)! You then have the guests guess what kind of candy in each.

That baby diaper game is very good. I like the ideal of melting a chocolate bar in a diaper. Sounds gross, but fun! |
