| that was my mom's idea. but she thinks personalization is tacky. besides, we already got ribbons with my name and the date on them. my mom thinks that that's enough personalization. my mom's idea was to buy plain votive holders, put a tea light on the bottom, and fill the votive with kisses and wrap in a tulle circle and tie it with my personalized ribbon. i really don't like plain votives though. i wonder if there's anyway to dress up the votive itself without looking cheap or tacky or whatever. what if i dipped about a quarter of an inch of the rim of the votive in glue and then in gold glitter...that would match my color scheme, too. anybody have any ideas? |

| If you go to a crafts store they sell markers that can write on glass or porcelain. You could personalize a plain votive holder or you can decorate it with dots, squiggles, etc, in your choice of colors. Another suggestion is to buy a bag of colored jewels, also in the craft store and glue them on in a random pattern on the votive holder. Either way would be inexpensive and cute and decorative. Hope this helps.... |

i like the idea of the jewels and of drawing designs with markers. I'd like to use gold marker or clear jewels, since I have to give boys these favors, too. i don't think they'd like colorful votives!
the only thing about votives is that my friend had these elaborate fancy votives for her favors. we don't have enough money to spend over $3 per favor. We have 50 guests to take care of! my friend also had about 60 guests, but they have a bit more $$. so i actually think i'd like to do a favor that's completely different from hers. we're already using the same hall as she did. i don't want it to be a comparison of "whose party was better b/c they were almost the same" kinda thing. |

For my daughters sweet 16,we made chocolate kiss roses, they are so cute,we saw them at a site online for $2.00 each which was more than we wanted to spend so we made them ourselves, cost us $15.00 for 50,cheap and so pretty.
For one wrapped rose, you need 2 chocolate kisses, you put them on top of each other, flat bottoms touching, wrap in colored cellophane,we used red because our colors were red and silver, then attach to a wooden skewer using green florist tape and wrap the entire skewer in green tape(skewers cost 1.00 for a 100,we added a silver leaf at the top with florist tape and then wrap the entire rose in clear cellophane, you just cut the cellophane in a square and wrap loosely as you would a real rose.
Cost about 30 cents per rose, hope this helps |

| My niece is having her Sweet 16 party. Her theme is dancing under the stars. My aunt who is very much into Arts and Craft suggested getting Star cutouts and putting my nieces pictures in the center. We haven't quite figured out how to put her name and the occation. I am looking at Part Innovations for personalized ribbons. I think that should work. |

Hi,
I am planning a sweet sixteen and thought that your "candy kiss" rose idea sounded cute, but I am having a hard time visualizing them....do you happen to have a pic that you could e-mail me, or perhaps you saw them on a website somewhere?? Thanx
