My wife is having a baby shower for our first child. Does anyone have any suggestions for something special I could do for the event? Note: it will be an all female affair.

Thanks,
Jake

Start with your color theme for the party, Blue, Pink, Yellow, or Mint green. Pick one or two, but pick a color. Embarassed If, and I say if, you want everybody to know what your having use pink or blue colours. Then you build your party around those colors. If you are having it at home decorate, decorate and decorate. You can use a clothes line and hang diapers, shirts and bibs on it to decorate. You can get building baby blocks in the colors and decorate the tables or get a diaper cake made and use the blocks around the centerpiece, or just place them around as part of the decorations. Don't forget the favors for your quest. Pick something you love that represent your family with love......Baked baby shaped cookies packages right....adds a nice touch......maybe baby bottles filled bath salt or candy....I don't know what kind of help you need, but remember not to stress out about the whole affair. Shocked Rolling Eyes Have fun find creative ideas. Very Happy

I just had a baby shower in May....I knew i was having a girl so we based the whole shower on a theme. I picked a butterfly crib set (blanket, bumper, crib skirt , etc) from Babies R Us. So the whole shower matched the crib bedding set. From the invitations, to the centerpieces, to the favors. It was butterflies & lavender everywhere. My girlfriend whom is a graphic designer re created the butterflies from the bedding set and used it for the invitations, thank u card, shower games, etc. The theme even carried over to some of her gifts...ie clothes with butterflies on them, personalized items with butterflies. etc. My mom hosted the shower and we had it in a firehouse hall. Of course all of the decorations were butterflies as well. So i would suggest ...pick a them and go wild.

ps if u dont know what ur having...u still have to pick a nursery theme and u can go with that Smile

I just had my baby girl in March. For my baby shower, I didn't want to stick to a typical theme, so we went for a very sophisticated party. I had it at 6:00 in the evening, ladies only, and served pink cosmos and pink lemonade for myself and anyone else who didn't want alcohol. We served them in plastic martini glasses for an added effect. We had a chocolate fountain and finger foods that wouldn't require any forks, etc. We also did little cupcakes with fluffy pink frosting, instead of a cake, and put them on a cupcake tree for display. My little girls middle name is Rose, so as everyone was leaving they took a long stem, pink rose from a table near the door. This was their favor and was something they could enjoy when they got home. During the party we played the standards (Sinatra, etc.) and just mingled and talked. There were no structured games, but I decorated a piece of scrapbook paper and throughout the evening, everyone put their advice onto it so I could add it to her baby scrapbook. I had the shower at my house so I could show off the nursery. It acted as somewhat of an ice breaker for those who didn't know anyone, as it gave people a common conversation piece. The moral of the story is that you can do whatever you want! You're not stuck to the typical "shower" games and themes. Think about what the mom is all about and go from there. Make it fun, make it memorable and make it unique!!!
