I need some ideas for decorating my reception hall. It's a t a really nice hotel, but in the actual room where it is taking place is not that impressive. The tables and such will look nice because I splurged on fancy linens and wrapped chairs and all that, but I noticed the paint on the walls is kinda chipping and ugly. Is there anything I can do about that decoratin wise or do you think no one will really notice it? What kinda of things would I put on the walls that wouldn't look tacky? Any & all suggestions are appreciated! Wink

Hi Julesann - I just got married myself and have a few ideas for you. The proper lighting is important to give the room that special glow. It's very romantic. It also camouflages any imperfections on the walls, soiled carpeting, shabby furniture, etc. If you can afford to splurge on flowers and if the walls are that bad, decorate with floral swags. Have them hung on strategic areas in the room. But more importantly, highboy centerpieces on your tables are extremely dramatic in a room that has high ceilings. I would go with that first. If you can afford to do both, do it. Otherwise just do the tables - this draws the crowds attention to how gorgeous your table centerpieces are and won't be paying attention to the walls. Make sure your flowers complement your room. If your room has dark surroundings, no windows, dark rugs, etc. than nothing is more elegant than centerpieces all done in white flowers. It's all about contrast - White flowers really pop against dark surroundings. But don't forget how important the lighting is.

Lots of luck to you and have fun on your special day.

M.
