I just got back from my honeymoon in Mexico and the best part of it was the private villa we rented outside of Puerto Vallarta. It was a big two bedroom house with a private pool and maid and cook daily. It wasn't even that expensive (relatively speaking). Now I'm hooked on private villas. Has anyone stayed at one somewhere else and would you recommend it?

We found the villa on the internet, but it was connected to a travel agency in Mexico (Inside Vallarta Travel or something like that). At that time of year (end of March), there was a seven night minimum, and we had it from Monday to Monday. It was two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, private pool. All of the rooms opened up and overlooked the pool and the water. It was an amazing view. The only bad thing was that we didn't have a nice beach down below to go to. There was a maid that came every day, and she also cooked. If we wanted breakfast or dinner, we just had to say in advance that we wanted it and what we wanted, and we only had to pay for the cost of groceries. It was so relaxing. I thought I wouldn't like being so isolated but it didn't feel that way at all. It was great to have a whole villa to ourselves, and at night if we wanted we just went to town to have dinner. I highly recommend it!

How wonderful! That sounds like a simply perfect honeymoon. Was the language difference a problem with yout cook, maid, or in making the reservation...that's my biggest fear with travelling out of the US!

The language problem wasn't an issue with booking things in the first place, because we went through a travel agency that handled the villa reservations, and the agent was British. However, the cook at the villa did not speak any English. There was also a house manager, and he spoke enough English for it to be fine. All in all, for the most part in the places we went in Mexico language wasn't a problem.
