I have gotten engaged and my fiance is being deployed until 2 weeks before our wedding. I was wondering how early is too early to start throwing showers so that we can both attend and his friends can be there as well.

Ideally you want to space out the engagement party, shower and wedding so that your guests don't feel overwhelmed with gift buying and events to go to but it is SO understandable that you have to have your parties when it is good for you and your fiancee! You want to be able to share this special time together. I think in this circumstance your family and friends will totally understand and they will be there to support you and share with you no matter what! Best of Luck and Congratulations!!!

I agree that you want to space out the different occasions so that people don't feel that they are being consumed with your wedding. However, under the circumstances, I don't think that anyone would feel your wedding was a burden. I am so happy for you and I wish your fiance a speedy trip home!!

I would get going right away on the engagement party. As a matter of fact, I would do a big party that included your engagment party, showers, etc. Since your fiance is being deployed, you don't have much time. Do it now. Your family and friends will be thrilled to make a big deal over the party with you. Have fun!
