| I AM PLANNING A WEDDING FOR A COUPLE AND THEY HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR 7 YEARS. THEY HAVE AN ESTABLISHED HOUSEHOLD AND BASICALLY DONT WANT TO DO GIFT REGISTRY. THEY WANT TO RECIEVE GIFT CARDS OR MONEY. IS THERE A PROPER WAY TO DO THIS WITHOUT OFFENDING ANYONE. |

| If you are not having a shower, I would have an insert to the invitation saying that the bride and groom have decided not to register, and gift cards would be appreciated. Good luck! |

I was invited to a wedding once where the couple registered at Crate and Barrel. The only thing they were registered for were gift cards. Maybe the couple could pick a couple stores where they would like to receive gift cards from so their guests could purchase their cards from those stores. This could be easy too since creating registries can be done online, and you don't have to worry about offending people because stores will be listed.
Good luck! |

| I think gift cards are impersonal, like guests didn't want to take the time to pick a gift. The bride and groom can always return duplicates if they get more than one of the same item. |

I thought this too, but some friends of mine are planning a 'gift card' bridal shower, because the bride lives out of state. It's turning out to be a good idea. Not as exciting when it comes to opening the gifts, but we will just focus more on the games and food! |
